WINNER OF THE 2007 YES SCHOLARSHIP

Spartan Chemical Company, Inc. is proud to announce that Vince Ippolito, Spartan's manager of Product Development, is the 2007 winner of the ISSA Young Executives Society's (YES) University of Industrial Distribution (UID) scholarship. Through the ISSA Foundation, the YES Scholarship is awarded to one YES member each year for tuition and travel to the University of Industrial Distribution (UID) educational program. UID is a concentrated educational program focused on the unique needs of the industrial wholesale distribution industry.

TENNANT RECEIVES AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE

Tennant Company was recently chosen by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency/Minnesota Office of Environmental Assistance (MPCA/MOEA) to receive a Governor's Award for Excellence in Waste and Pollution Prevention. The award honors superior environmental achievement by Minnesota businesses that have developed innovative practices that prevent pollution and waste, improve resource efficiency and lead to sustainability.

NY DISTRIBUTOR HONORS EMPLOYEES' MILESTONES

Consolidated Paper Company announced two recent achievements, both milestones in its 89-year history. Myrna Otis, a 12-year veteran of Consolidated's sales team has achieved the highest sales volume ever recorded by a sales associate. Otis is a well-known professional among the distributors and suppliers in the New York metro marketing area. She and her husband were awarded a trip to one of their favorite vacation spots. Ari Lewis, Consolidated's vice-president, also presented Robert Hennessey with an award plaque for his performance and sales achievements for 2006. Hennessey has spent 15 years with Consolidated and is a true professional who understands his customers' needs.

BUNZL EXPANDS THROUGH REDISTRIBUTION

Bunzl Distribution USA, Inc., recently announced its acquisition of two redistribution companies. Bunzl acquired TEC Products Company, Inc., a private company owned by a group led by David Holtzman. Based in New Jersey, TEC Products is principally engaged in the supply of Jan/San and associated products through redistributors. Bunzl has also purchased Westgate Sales Corporation from Thomas Sibilla and Joseph Brancato and Westgate Canada Ltd. from Thomas Sibilla, Joseph Brancato and James Anderson. Also based in New Jersey, with facilities in Ontario and Alberta, Canada, Westgate supplies personal protection equipment through redistributors in the eastern U.S. and Canada.

TACONY ACQUIRES TORNADO

Tacony Corporation announced that is acquired Tornado Industries, Inc. The addition of Tornado rounds out Tacony's group of Commercial Floor Companies, which now serve markets in North America and around the world, according to a recent press release. Tacony Corporation now has nearly 600 associates, as well as distribution in over 60 countries. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tacony Corporation, Tornado will continue to operate in Chicago with Michael Schaffer as CEO and president of Tornado and Gary Cirone as executive vice-president remaining with the company and managing day-to-day operations. A joint team with representatives of the two companies will now execute integration plans that build upon the product and cultural synergies as well as the best business and product development practices of both organizations.

ISSA SECURES LAS VEGAS

In response to member requests for a 2008 venue change, ISSA is pleased to announce it has secured the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, for ISSA/INTERCLEAN® North America 2008. The exhibit dates will be Tuesday, September 9, through Thursday, September 11. Historically, ISSA/INTERCLEAN North America breaks attendance records when it is held in Las Vegas, and ISSA estimates the 2008 move will increase attendance by between 2,500 and 3,000. In addition, the venue change will give attendees more extensive travel and accommodation options, while exhibitors will experience operational cost savings in many key areas, including labor and drayage. With this most recent round of negotiations, the ISSA/INTERCLEAN North America trade show is also in the unique position of being able to frequent Las Vegas every other year, beginning in 2011 — fulfilling another request from both attendees and exhibitors. In the alternate years, the show will rotate between Chicago, Illinois and Orlando, Florida.

NEW WEB SITE FOR EDUCATION

ERC Wiping Products Inc. recently launched its new and revised Web site. Updated pages include "Wiping & Polishing Cloths" and "Cleaning Rags & Towels," both of which feature many popular rag and wiper options for schools, colleges and universities. Also, the updated site now features a "Complete Product Listing" page with pictures and full descriptions of ERC's product offerings. The Web site is located at www.ercwipe.com.
